Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) is an inorganic polymer coagulant widely used in water and wastewater treatment. It is produced by partially neutralizing aluminium chloride with a base, forming a polymeric structure that contains Al–O–Al bonds. PAC effectively destabilizes and aggregates suspended particles, colloids, and organic matter by neutralizing their negative charges — resulting in rapid floc formation and clear water. It is more efficient than traditional coagulants like alum (aluminium sulphate) and works over a wide pH range.
